The nearby town of Haworth was a former wool manufacturing village. Its main street has hardly changed over the years and there are an interesting variety of shops and tearooms. The Haworth Parsonage, the home of the famous literary family the Brontes from 1820-1861, is now the Bronte Parsonage Museum and is a 'must see' for Bronte fans. The countryside and moorland surrounding Haworth is reputed to have inspired much of the Brontes work, in particular Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre . |
